One Page vs Multi-Page: Which Website is Right for You?

This is probably the most common question I get asked during initial consultations.

"Do I really need a full website with loads of pages, or can I just have one long page that covers everything?"

It is a great question. A few years ago, One-Page websites were a massive trend. They look sleek on mobile, and they are easy to scroll through. But they aren't the right tool for everyone.

If you are sitting on the fence, here is how I help my clients decide.

The Case for the One-Page Site

Think of a One-Page site like a digital flyer. It is concise, punchy, and direct.

You have your logo at the top, a bit about who you are, your services, some testimonials, and a contact form at the bottom. The navigation menu just jumps you down the page rather than loading a new one.

Choose this if:

  • You have a tight budget. Naturally, these are quicker to build and cost less.

  • You are a specialist. If you are a plumber who only does emergency boiler repairs, you don't need 10 pages. You just need a button that says "Call Me."

  • You are just starting out. Better to have a great one-page site than a half-finished five-page site.

The Case for the Multi-Page Site

Think of this like a digital office. It has different rooms for different conversations.

You have a dedicated "About" page, separate pages for each service you offer, and a Blog section.

Choose this if:

  • You want to be found on Google. This is the big one. It is very hard to rank a One-Page site for different services. If you want to be found for "Web Design" and "Logo Design," Google prefers you to have a dedicated page for each topic.

  • You want to grow. If you plan to add case studies, articles, or team members later, you need a structure that can handle it.

  • You sell a complex service. If you are a financial advisor or an interior designer, you likely need more space to explain your process and build trust before the client calls you.

Which One Wins?

Neither is "better" than the other. It depends entirely on your goal.

If you just need a place to send people after you meet them at a networking event, a One-Page site is perfect. It validates you.

But if you want strangers to find you on Google and generate leads while you sleep, a Multi-Page site is the better investment.
